Since the sale of recreational weed became legal in Connecticut, sales have consistently been on the rise, from $1.5 million shortly after it was legalized in January 2023 to $3.78 million during the last week of May 2024.

But one week of the 88 weeks of available data stands out, according to the state’s Department of Consumer Protection.

The most money spent by Connecticut residents on adult-use weed was the week before Christmas in 2023, in which sales reached $4.5 million, over half a million higher than the second-highest week. No other week since sales started has surpassed the $4 million mark.

The runner-up week for adult-use weed sales was the week ending on April 20, 2024, in which sales almost reached $4 million, over $100,000 more than the next highest sales week.

For about the last 10 months, weekly sales haven’t dropped below $3 million, as dispensaries have been opening up across the state.
