Gov. Phil Scott on Wednesday announced that Jennifer Fitch, commissioner of the Vermont Department of Buildings and General Services, is planning to leave her post. In her place, Scott said he has appointed Wanda Minoli, the current head of the state’s Department of Motor Vehicles.
The buildings and general services department oversees maintenance and construction of state buildings and grounds, manages the state’s vehicle fleet and is responsible for state purchasing and contracting, among other duties.
Fitch has served as commissioner of the department since 2021. Minoli, meanwhile, spent more than two decades at the department herself — including serving as its deputy commissioner — before Scott appointed her to lead the DMV in 2018.
“I want to thank Commissioner Fitch for her service and wish her well,” Scott said in a press release. “I also appreciate Commissioner Minoli’s willingness to return to BGS as its leader and believe she will serve the Department very well.”
Fitch is stepping down as commissioner at the end of next week, Scott said, and Minoli will take over the following Monday, Oct. 14.
Scott has not yet named a new DMV commissioner, according to a spokesperson for his office.
