A concert commemorating the inauguration of West Virginia Gov.-elect Patrick Morrisey next week will feature the southern rock group The Marshall Tucker Band and the country music act Shenandoah.
“Very excited about the musical talent coming to our inauguration! Shenandoah and the Marshall Tucker Band!!” Morrisey posted on the social media platform X Monday evening. “West Virginia, wild and wonderful, and home to some great parties and music on January 13th! We will be celebrating our state’s very bright future!”
The Marshall Tucker Band, originally of South Carolina, is known for its songs “Can’t You See,” and “Heard It In A Love Song,” among others. The band has released more than two dozen albums going back to 1973. Grammy winner Shenandoah is known for its songs “Two Dozen Roses,” “Church on Cumberland Road,” and others.
The Celebration of West Virginia Concert is planned for 5:30 p.m. Monday Jan. 13 at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center. Tickets are available online for $10.
The show is one of several public events planned for Morrisey’s inauguration day Monday. They kick off with a faith-based breakfast at the West Virginia Cultural Center at 9 a.m. Events also include a parade at 1:30 p.m. and conclude with an inaugural ball at the Coliseum.
Morrisey, the state’s current attorney general, will be sworn in as governor at 11 a.m. Monday during a ceremony on the steps of the state Capitol building.
