The Southern Nevada Health District is urging residents to take precautions and get vaccinated as respiratory viruses surge throughout the Las Vegas Valley.

The district reported high concentrations of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and influenza and moderate levels of Covid-19 in recent wastewater surveillance.

There have been seven influenza-associated deaths and 438 hospitalizations for the 2024-2025 season, as of Dec. 28.

In the same period last year there were 13 deaths and 294 reported flu hospitalizations, the district notes.

Health officials are urging immunocompromised people take extra precautions, including wearing high-quality masks.

People can schedule vaccinations with the district.
