Robert DiGioia has joined The Connecticut Mirror in a newly created role, director of revenue. He will oversee events and marketing in addition to advertising and sponsorship sales.

DiGioia brings digital marketing, graphic design and journalism experience to the role, having held management positions at media companies, agencies and educational institutions in Philadelphia, New York and Connecticut.

He spent seven years as a creative director with Hearst Connecticut and received the Monarch Innovation Award in 2016 for devising successful multichannel media plans and assets for clients nationwide.

He was a charter member of Hearst’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council, and he started the Connecticut Post’s in-house advertising agency, Studio: State Street.

“We have created the director of revenue role to help sustain our recent growth and to fuel the new growth in our ambitious new three-year strategic plan,” CT Mirror Publisher Bruce Putterman said. “Robert brings the exact range of skills, digital marketing experience, and passion for journalism we were looking for in this position as we enter our 15th year.”

DiGioia has consulted for The Wall Street Journal, The Economist and the Waterbury Republican-American newspaper, and became the editor and creative director of Coast Magazine in 2021. He is a Rotarian and board member of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra.

His first day at CT Mirror is Monday.
