Brattleboro police say they have identified a suspect and are searching for that person in a fatal stabbing late Thursday night.

Neither the name of the suspect nor of the person who died were provided in a press release issued Friday morning by the Brattleboro Police Department.

According to the release, Brattleboro police responded at about 10:47 p.m. Thursday to the Brattleboro Transportation Center at 77 Flat St. for a reported stabbing.

The transportation center has been the site of reported past complaints from residents about criminal activity.

Personnel from Brattleboro Fire Department’s emergency medical services provided medical care to the man who was stabbed and he was taken to the Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the release stated.

“Brattleboro Police identified a suspect, who remains at large, but expect charges to be filed later today,” the Friday morning release stated. “The identity of the victim and suspect will not be released at this time.”
