Manchester police and fire crews were responding Wednesday morning to a reported small plane crash in the area of Mount Equinox that left three people injured, according to Manchester Town Manager Scott Murphy.

As of around 10 a.m. Wednesday, emergency responders had not yet been able to reach the injured people due to the “difficult conditions,” including snow, ice and the remoteness of the scene, according to Murphy, who said it was foggy in the area that morning.

The exact time and location of the reported plane crash were not immediately available Wednesday morning. The extent of the injuries was also unclear.

A person answering the phone for Manchester police and fire dispatch Wednesday morning said they could not provide any comment at that time.

The Rutland City Fire Department received a request for additional technical rescue resources to help respond to the plane crash, according to Rutland City Firefighter Kyle Robillard.

Vermont State Police spokesperson Adam Silverman wrote in a text message Wednesday morning that he was “aware there’s a report of a plane crash in that area, Manchester PD is responding and VSP is not currently involved.”

Mount Equinox has an elevation of about 3,000 feet.
