Lund, the South Burlington–based nonprofit providing child and family support services, has announced that onetime St. Albans Mayor Liz Gamache will serve as its newest president and chief executive officer.

Gamache has worked in community and economic development for over 20 years. Currently, she leads fundraising and strategic business development efforts as the chief development officer at United Way of Northwest Vermont. Her tenure as St. Albans mayor spanned 2012 to 2018.

“I am honored to join Lund’s dedicated team because when our children and families thrive, our communities thrive,” Gamache said in a press release announcing her selection. “Building on Lund’s 130-year legacy, I am committed to addressing current challenges and opportunities.”

Founded as a maternity home, Lund has expanded its family support services to include adoption, early childhood education and treatment for substance use disorder and mental health. Lund’s Parent Child Center is one of Vermont Parent Child Center Network’s 15 establishments that provide core services to children and families.

“Lund’s work to break cycles of poverty, addiction, and abuse remains a primary focus. In some ways, the economic and social issues faced by generations of families have remained the same, yet in other ways, in 2025, they are different,” Gamache wrote in an email. “Our job at Lund is to adapt with the times, so that our children and families can thrive.”

Ken Schatz has served as Lund’s interim CEO since June 2024.

“It’s been an honor to lead Lund through this transition,” Schatz said in the release. “Lund has an incredible staff and is in a strong place; and I know Liz has the collaborative spirit, business acumen and people-centered approach to continue the momentum built over the last year.”
