Governor-elect Josh Stein’s inauguration will be themed “North Carolina Strong.”
The Jan. 11 ceremony will focus on “the state’s unity and resilience” as western North Carolina continues to recover from Hurricane Helene, Stein announced Friday.
Stein, a Democrat and the current attorney general, will be sworn in and deliver his inaugural address at 10 a.m. at the State Capitol, followed by a block party on Fayetteville Street in Raleigh. Both events are free and open to the public.
The governor-elect has pledged to make Helene recovery in the mountains his foremost priority when he takes office. He will succeed Gov. Roy Cooper, who leaves office after two terms.
Stein also announced his 2025 inaugural committee Friday.
It will be chaired by Pamela Cashwell, secretary of the NC Department of Administration, and includes lawmakers on both sides of the aisle and North Carolina business leaders.
The inauguration will be broadcast live on UNC-TV. You can visit the inauguration site for more details.
