Idahoans are invited to celebrate the holiday season at the Idaho Capitol Christmas Tree Lighting on Dec. 3 in Boise.
The free community event will begin at 5:30 p.m., featuring holiday music, complimentary cookies, hot cocoa and coffee. Gov. Brad Little and first lady Teresa Little will deliver remarks, and Santa Claus, accompanied by his elf, will be available for photos, candy canes and bookmarks.Â

The event will be broadcast live on Magic 97.9, and Mike Kasper with KBOI Radio will serve as master of ceremonies, according to a press release from the Idaho Office of the Governor.Â
The tree lighting portion will begin at 6 p.m., led by the governor, the first lady, and Idaho’s constitutional officers. It will also include performances by the Andrus Ambassadors Honor Choir from Cecil D. Andrus Elementary School and students from the Idaho Fine Arts Academy in Meridian.
After the Christmas tree lighting, guests will be invited into the Capitol with the option to visit the Governor’s Ceremonial Office and the Capitol Gift Shop, where Idaho’s 2024 State Christmas ornament and other items crafted by Idaho artists will be available.
The event is sponsored by Walmart, Cumulus Media, and Dawson Taylor Coffee Roasters. Other event partners include the Idaho Department of Administration, Idaho Department of Lands, Idaho Transportation Department, Apex Crane, Production Services International Inc., Ada County Highway District and the Boise Police Department.
