The Idaho State Historical Society is hosting a free educator open house from 5-7 p.m. July 22 at the Old Idaho Penitentiary in Boise. 

The event will provide a light buffet and offer opportunities for networking. Participants can learn how the Idaho State Historical Society can enhance classroom education, according to a press release from the Idaho State Historical Society. 

Attendees will be able to preview the Old Idaho Penitentiary education tours, and tours will be available at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Teachers will be able to:

Explore the Old Idaho Penitentiary after hours.
Preview 2024-25 programs from the Old Idaho Penitentiary, Idaho State Museum and Idaho State Archives.
Hear about upcoming exhibits and events at the Idaho State Museum, Old Idaho Penitentiary, Idaho State Archives and State Historic Preservation Office.
Participate in activity booths to sample education programs.
Learn how to help students connect with Idaho’s history.

Each educator will automatically be entered into a raffle for a free field trip to the Idaho State Museum or other prizes.

The event is free for all school staff, including public, private, parochial school employees, home school educators, early childhood educators, informal educators and education college students.
