Gov. Greg Gianforte is asking for public comment to see which of four attorneys he should appoint to fill a judicial vacancy in the Seventh Judicial District in eastern Montana.
The person chosen by Gianforte after consideration of the public comments will become a judge who covers Dawson, Prairie, McCone, Richland and Wibaux counties.
The four applicants are Scott William Herring, John Tyson Hrubes, Brett Joseph Irigoin and Charity Sue McLarty. People can read more about them and see their applications here. A candidate must receive at least three letters of support to be considered for the job by Gianforte, the governor’s office said.
The governor is accepting comments and letters of support through Jan. 16, 2025, at 5 p.m. People can submit those letters by email to nominatejudges@mt.gov, by fax to (406) 444-4151, or by mail to Attn: Hannah Slusser, Governor’s Office, PO Box 200801, Helena, MT 59620.
