The deadline to register to vote ahead of the upcoming Nov. 5 general election in Idaho is Oct. 11. Voters can also register in person at the polls on the day of the election.

To register in person or online before the Oct. 11 deadline, Idaho voters will need to have one of the following photo identifications:

a current Idaho driver’s license
a current U.S. passport
a current tribal identification card
a current Idaho identification card
a concealed weapons license issued by a county sheriff in Idaho

Voters will also need to provide an approved proof of residence when registering, such as:

any of the above photo IDs with the correct residence address
current proof of insurance
a deed of trust
a lease or rental agreement
a property tax assessment bill or receipt
utility bill (excluding a cellular phone bill)
a bank or credit card statement
a paystub or paycheck
a letter from a social service agency

A voter must be 18 or older, a U.S. citizen and a resident of Idaho for at least 30 days before the day of the election. Individuals with a felony conviction may not register until the terms of their sentence have been completed, according to the Idaho Secretary of State’s Office.

Voters will need to update their registration if they have moved, changed their name or if they have not voted in the past four years.

In Idaho, absentee ballots may be requested until Oct. 25 and must be returned to your county elections office by 8 p.m. Nov. 5. A voter must first be registered to vote, then they can request an absentee ballot by going to VoteIdaho.gov. That website also has links to help you find your polling place, view your sample ballot and find information on how to vote early in your county.

Polls are open for in-person voting from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day in Idaho.
