CATCH, a Treasure Valley-based nonprofit, is requesting essential summer items to keep Idahoans facing homelessness safe with the hot temperatures on the rise.

“We really need community support to keep those most vulnerable cool and safe,” said CATCH’s Outreach Team Lead Connor O’Hara in a press release. “Our team is out of supplies and desperately in need of bottled water, reusable water bottles, sports drinks, hats, sunscreen, hygiene kits, socks, wet wipes and bug spray.”

With the use of an outreach van, bikes, tabling at libraries and other community spaces, CATCH’s homeless outreach team is able to hand out the essential supplies that the homeless community needs, on a regular basis.

People or groups interested in helping out are encouraged to donate summer items and deliver them during CATCH’s business hours from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday or 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Fridays at the CATCH Boise office on 503 S. Americana Blvd.

“I do not think it is an overstatement to consider these items survival supplies,” O’Hara said in the press release. “Although cooling centers will be opening up soon, there has been a dramatic increase in temperature and people living without regular shelter need our help now.”
