CalMatters launched its voter event series to provide in-person information to voters statewide.
CalMatters launched its 2024 VotingMatters series in Eureka – the first of more than 30 events around the state to educate Californians through in-person conversations, which also allows us to bring our 2024 Voter Guide to life.
Around 70 people packed into North of Fourth, a cozy downtown bar, on Thursday to learn about November’s statewide ballot propositions in an event co-hosted with the local publication Lost Coast Outpost.
With drinks in hand and a clear hunger to learn, neighbors and friends gathered for a lively, civil, and community-focused discussion to demystify this year’s ballot. The event was led by Dan Hu, CalMatters’s partnerships manager, and featured two speakers: Hank Sims, editor of the Lost Coast Outpost, and Juan Pablo Cervantes, Humboldt County Clerk, Recorder, and Registrar of Voters.
This week, VotingMatters will come to the far northern part of the state:
Tuesday at 6 p.m., Chico: North State Public Radio will co-host the event.
Thursday at 12 p.m., South Lake Tahoe: Join CalMatters and city clerk Susan Blankenship for a youth-oriented VotingMatters event at Lake Tahoe Community College.
The week after, VotingMatters will be in the Central Valley:
Sept. 23 at 12 p.m., Stockton: This event will be co-hosted with Stocktonia and San Joaquin Delta College, with details TBA.
Sept. 24 at 12 p.m., Sacramento: This event will be co-hosted with CapRadio and Sacramento State, with details TBA.
