Activists protest outside of the Detroit Police Union Building in Detroit on Jan. 18, 2025 | Jackson Coleman
A group of about a dozen people rallied on Saturday against the Detroit Police Department (DPD) budget and called to “invest in permanent non-punitive resources and social programs for Detroiters.”
The effort led by Coalition for Police Transparency and Accountability (CPTA), the Detroit Residents Advancing Oversight (DRACO), Black Lives Matter Detroit, and the Michigan Coalition for Human Rights was held at the Detroit Police Union Building.
“I’m here participating in this protest and advancing civilian oversight,” said Scott Boman, who attended the rally.
