At the dawn of the year, with hope in the air,
Marylanders dreamed of a future so fair.
Clean energy goals, bold and bright,
Guided our hearts through the year’s first light.
While visions of forests and bays danced around,
The Chesapeake called us with beauty profound.
With love for our neighbors, for nature so dear,
We resolved to protect it this promising year.
But hark! On the horizon, a troubling fight,
Threats to our progress loomed big in the night.
The climate, at risk from destructive delay,
Needed bold action without further sway.
