There will be a celebration of life at Lakeview Cemetery in Burlington in the summer at a date to be determined.
Steve Swett, 82 died of Alzheimer’s disease at Birchwood Terrace in Burlington, VT where he had been a resident for 3+ years and was much loved by staff and fellow residents alike.
In 1996 Steve and wife Margi bought Vermont Trophy and Engraving (now Vermont Awards and Engraving). Steve loved customer contact and grew the business a lot. In 2007 he was diagnosed with a cognitive impairment and in 2012 Alzheimer’s. He retired in August 2013. Margi and their daughter Jessie now own the business.
Steve was the son of David and Mary Chittenden Buck Swett and grew up in W. Lebanon, NH. He was co-captain of the 1960 basketball team that won the NH State Class B Championship. Steve went to UNH and then to Bankers Trust in NYC where he started his career in trust banking. He lived and worked in a number of places finishing his banking career as EVP of Citizen’s Bank in Flint, MI.
Steve is survived by his wife Margi, son Geoff and his partner Macaria Rivera, daughter Kate MacQuarrie and her husband Mike, daughter Jessie Swétel, and her wife Felix, as well as grandchildren, Stephen Swett, Tristan Tapp, Brayden Swett and Evelyn MacQuarrie.
