A shooting in Rutland on Friday night left one person dead, according to authorities.
In a press release early Saturday morning, the Rutland Police Department said it had responded to a report of gunshots just after 7 p.m. Friday on Elm Street, near Grant Avenue. A person who sustained gunshot wounds was brought to Rutland Regional Medical Center, where the person was later pronounced dead.
Police said two people allegedly connected to the shooting were in custody. They called it “an isolated-targeted incident” and said there was no wider threat to the public.
Neither the victim nor those in custody were immediately identified Saturday.
