Today is Election Day and if you’re like most people, you’re probably breathing a sigh of relief. If nothing else, an end to the constant blitz of electronic ads and mailers will be something that just about everyone will celebrate.
As overwhelming and mind numbing as these ads have been, however, it’s vitally important not to tune out the election itself. And that’s because the vote of each individual North Carolinian has never mattered more.
According to election data experts, whatever happens in our closely divided state in the presidential race will go a long way toward deciding who the overall winner is. If Vice President Harris wins North Carolina, her chances of winning the election are huge. The same is true for former President Trump.
And given the fact that one statewide election in our state in 2020 was decided by just over 400 votes, it’s clear that even a tiny bump in voter turnout for either side will make a huge difference.
The bottom line: Don’t sit this election out. The nation’s future may well depend on it.
