Gov. Kay Ivey received medical care after becoming dehydrated at a campaign event Sunday evening. 

Gina Maiola, spokesperson for Gov. Kay Ivey, wrote that she immediately felt better and returned home at home doing better that evening. At the event for Caroleene Dobson, the Republican nominee for Alabama’s 2nd Congressional District. Ivey mingled with supporters and visited with Dobson, wrote Maiola.

“She received fluids and was evaluated on site out of precaution,” she wrote.

Maiola wrote that Ivey had a full schedule of meetings Monday.

Ivey, 80, has been governor since 2017. She was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2019; her office said in January 2020 that treatments had appeared to eliminate the cancer.
