Beginning today, West Virginia voters may cast their ballots for the 2024 general election. Early voting starts Wednesday, Oct. 23 and continues through Saturday, Nov. 2.

During early voting, people can vote at their county courthouse or other designated places during normal business hours and between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on the last two Saturdays before the election.

Voters must bring an approved form of photo or non-photo identification. Those can include: a voter registration card, Medicare card or Social Security card, birth certificate, WV hunting or fishing license, WV SNAP ID card or a driver’s license.

A complete list of early voting locations and times is available on the West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office website

Many local, state and federal officers are up for grabs during the election, including West Virginia governor, one of West Virginia’s U.S. Senate seats, and U.S. president. This year’s ballot also includes a constitutional amendment that would prohibit medically assisted suicide, something that is already illegal in West Virginia.

Sample ballots for each county are also available on the Secretary of State’s Office website.

Election day is Tuesday, Nov. 5. Polls open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 a.m.
