Former President Donald Trump plans to speak at a rally in Aurora on Friday.

He is visiting Colorado to highlight the purported danger of Venezuelan gang members in Aurora, according to an announcement from his presidential campaign this week. This premise is based on false claims, amplified by local Republican officials, that members of the Tren de Aragua gang had taken over parts of the city.

U.S Rep. Lauren Boebert of Windsor and Aurora City Council member Danielle Jurinsky were also scheduled to appear at the event, located at the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center. Trump was due to deliver remarks at 1 p.m.

Newsline journalists who are covering the event will post updates to this page.
