The index of the Alaska Division of Elections’ general-election pamphlet incorrectly listed Anchorage Republican state House candidate Mia Costello as a Democrat.

Costello, a longtime Republican, served in the state House from 2011 to 2015 and in the state Senate from 2015 through 2023.

She is now running for state House against Democratic candidate Denny Wells and perennial candidate Dustin Darden, who is running as a Democrat. All three are running to replace Rep. Tom McKay, R-Anchorage, who is not seeking re-election.

The pamphlet error was not repeated on Costello’s candidate page within the pamphlet, and the Division of Elections said it will send a postcard-sized correction note to voters who received the pamphlet.

“I understand that mistakes are made,” Costello said. “It’s a clerical error, and I appreciate the fact that the division is going to send out a correction card. I’m just going to keep going door to door, and if voters have any questions, I have a strong record and there really shouldn’t be any question.”
