Lisa Louise Daniels, 54, of Morrisville, Vermont, died Sept. 7, 2024, at the McClure Miller Respite House after a long battle with cancer. Lisa was born Aug. 11, 1970 in Albany, New York. She grew up in Castleton-on-Hudson where she became an accomplished athlete. Her passion for sports began with Little League Baseball. As the only girl on the team, she took great pride in her ability to excel at second base which was especially difficult being left-handed.
Lisa later distinguished herself as a standout softball pitcher in New York’s capital region, eventually becoming a member of the Columbia High School athletic hall of fame. While she was an exceptional pitcher, her true love for the game far surpassed any of her formal accolades. She often had the fondest memories of the practices where she could have fun playing with her team.
Following a successful high school career, Lisa received a scholarship to play softball at Quinnipiac University. During college, her innate reading and writing skills flourished as she developed a real passion for language arts. She went on to earn her BA in English followed by a MAT in Secondary Education.
She dedicated the early years of her career to teaching middle school and coaching softball at Brattleboro Area Middle School and Missisquoi Valley Union School. Known for her unique ability to enhance student test scores, Lisa was deeply committed to making each student feel valued.
Taking a break from her professional career to raise her daughters, Annie and Erin, Lisa considered motherhood her most important role. Lisa was truly a mother like no other. While taking on the difficult task that is being a mother and raising a family, Lisa always found a way to have gentleness and forgiveness. There was never a day that went by where her girls didn’t feel the unconditional love she had for them. The warmth and love that Lisa carried with her was powerful enough to turn any house into a home.
As her children grew, she returned to academia to obtain an MA in Counseling from Johnson State College. During this time Lisa was employed by Community College of Vermont, as an academic advisor and instructor. She then worked at Laraway Youth and Family Services as a therapeutic case manager and Northeast Kingdom Human Services where she was a children’s therapist. She gained valuable experience and friendships at each of these institutions.
In 2019, Lisa opened a private counseling practice where she found great fulfillment in helping her patients and their families. Her generosity knew no bounds and she was always the type of person to provide everything she could to those around her. She loved giving and never hesitated to help when possible.
Lisa is survived by her loving spouse, William Fishell; her daughters, Annie and Erin Fishell; her mother, Kathleen Daniels; her brother and sister in law, Brian and Joanne Daniels; her brother, Allen Daniels; her mother in law, Linda Fishell; her sister in law and brother in law, Sandra and Scott McAllister; her nephew and niece, William and Katherine McAllister; and her brother in law, David Fishell. She was preceded in death by her father, Lincoln Daniels and her father in law, Kenneth Fishell.
