The Pulaski County Clerk’s office is celebrating National Voter Registration Day by hosting eight events Tuesday in central Arkansas.
National Voter Registration Day is a nonpartisan civic holiday celebrating democracy that occurs each September. Since launching in 2012, the team associated with the initiative and its partners have registered more than 5 million Americans to vote, according to the holiday’s website.
Vote Fest is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Pulaski County Clerk’s parking lot, which is located near the intersection of W. 2nd and S. Spring Streets in downtown Little Rock.
The event will include food trucks and DJ Multitalented, as well as the opportunity for Arkansans to register to vote, check their voter registration and sign a pledge to vote on election day.
Arkansas has the lowest voter participation in the nation during the 2020 U.S. presidential election, with 62% of eligible citizens registered to vote and 54% voting, according to the Arkansas Civic Health Index report. This is below the national average of nearly 73% of citizens registered to vote and about 68% voting.
