Two people are dead and a third in custody following an incident in Montpelier on Friday morning, according to Vermont State Police.
Authorities responded to a report of an incident at a private residence on Gallison Hill Road around 11:30 a.m., state police said in a press release later that day. First responders found two people dead and detained a third man, police said.
“Everyone involved in this incident is believed to be accounted for, and there is no identified threat to the community,” state police wrote.
Authorities did not immediately identify either the victims or the person they detained. State police said they would do so after notifying relatives and further investigating the matter. The Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington is expected to conduct autopsies and determine a cause and manner of death.
